Rescue Tip of the Month

Now that we are on the water, it's time to think about the safety on our boats and on our body. One of the most usefull things you can do is reduce entrampent issues. Here are some suggestions.

1.Limit the number of lines and straps on your boat. If you have a chicken line on your boat, make sure it runs cleanly through the D-Rings and is one continous line so if you need to cut it to free someone you can cut it anywhere around the boat.

2. If you carry carabiners on your life jacket they should be locking ones and checked often to ensure they are locked. This will help keep you from getting clipped in to a line either on your way out of the boat or on your way back in.

3. Keep a spare paddle or oar with you.

4. Have a first aid kit available for major and minor injuries.

5. Make sure you have a good pealess whistle on a lanyard.

6. have a good river knife on your jacket in case you need to cut a line.

Have fun and be safe.....

We will be going through some changes for teaching classes in Idaho. We will be affiliated with other outfitters and doing classes through them.
